The
waterproofing characteristics of bentonite have a wide application whenever it is necessary to prevent
water infiltrations or leaks. This is the way to waterproof canals, basins, dams, reservoirs, water deposits, etc..
Water proofing soils to prevent the infiltration of what percolates from
industrial and refuse dumps is a very important application of bentonite, which prevents pollution of the underlying aquifer. Other applications are the waterproofing of dumps covering and of the draining of sites that were previously polluted.
At the beginning of the 90’s we created our own water proofing system based on
prehydrous lamellar bentonite. Today this system is cited in the specifications of many Regions. We are talking about a completely natural bentonite with no additives, therefore with a great chemical stability and product uniformity, characteristics already guaranteed by the nature of bentonite itself. Furthermore bentonite is active even in presence of pollutants because of its level of pre-hydratation. To waterproof it is necessary to spread a layer of 12 ÷ 15 cm of the product; this guarantees waterproofing for
100 years and resistance to the aggression of different kinds of percolations.
Our waterproofing bentonites called
BENTOCOAT®, are natural, selected and treated to offer the best
waterproofing according to the conditions in which they must operate.
